Paradou

Two friends and I tried Paradou for brunch today.  The champaign cocktails are wonderful - their signature cocktail is excellent (very sweet).  I had a very simple dish - polenta with over easy eggs - and it was wonderful.  All in the seasoning?

The garden seating was perfect for a warm summer day, but it does get loud quickly with the music and tightly-packed crowed of eaters.

For dessert, we tried the lemon mousse, which was so refreshing.  I would definitely get it again.

Next time I want to try the beet pasta appetizer.

Hot Chocolate - five stars!!!

I've tried their puddings, cookies, and even their cupcakes (which are all just mediocre and overpriced).  But their hot chocolate is perfect for a winter pick-me-up.

(So overall, three stars.)

Pastel Nail & Spa

I decided to try Pastel for an eyebrow waxing.  I was highly disappointed with the results.  I now have to use an eyebrow pencil, as she left a big "hole" in my left brow.  She was also surprised when I asked to see the results in a mirror.

On top of that, she asked me if I wanted my lip waxed.  Is this just an up-sell or should I be insulted?  I definitely do NOT need a lip wax.

The best gnocchi I've ever had was at Union Square Cafe: melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi with a light tomato sauce.  The waiter was very knowledgeable on the wines (by the glass on my budget) and friendly.  I ended my meal with the flourless chocolate cake - so delicous I brought a piece home with me.

Side Note: If you've had better gnocchi (vegetarian) in Manhattan, please let me know!

Dry cleaning, laundry service - they do it all.  The people are friendly, the service is great, and the prices are very reasonable.  I've tried a few other drop-off laundry services and dry cleaners in my/this neighborhood and Sew Top Cleaners is the best!

Cafe Brama

The brunch menu is quite impressive.  Great food and free wifi.  I had the Brama french toast, which is made with challah bread and topped with scrambled eggs and cheese.

There were other people in the cafe reading and using their laptops.  It seems like a place you can just hang out or get some good food with with a friend.

This is my favorite place to go and grab a mini cake.  They are all so good, it's difficult to pick a favorite.  The last one I got was seasonal with a gingerbread crust.  Yum!

Usually I go for one of the chocolate cakes with raspberry jam on top.  But next time I'll try their mini apple ginger pie.  I can't wait!

Sugar

This is actually a woman's clothing boutique and not a club.  There is a club called Sugar, but not at this address.

Anyway, the woman assisting me in the store was very friendly without being at all pushy.  I ended up with a beautiful evening tank top that can be worn under a sweater in winter and by itself when it gets warmer out.

Overall, a very nice experience and I will definitely shop here again.

This is definitely a boutique I will keep my eye on.  Nice quality clothing at fairly high prices (compared to the other boutiques in the area).

I was a little put off by the man running the shop (he didn't fit the style or quality of the merchandise in the store), but will go back to see new items on the racks.

Outlet 7

Outlet 7 has unique pieces of clothing.  They also have a few twists on some basics.  For instance, I purchased a white button-down shirt, but it was made with a lightly textured fabric - perfect for under a suit jacket at work OR with jeans on weekends.

The shop is dimly lit, but the dressing rooms do have a bit more light.
